What a shade study actually costs us to run

A proper shade study takes two days and a site visit. We do it before quoting, and we absorb the cost.

What a shade study actually costs us to run

Every proposal we send is preceded by a shade study run on measured site data. It is not free and we do not bill it separately.

What it involves

  • A site visit with a horizon scan from four roof positions.
  • Obstruction modelling for parapets, mechanical units and neighbouring structures.
  • Hourly loss modelling across a full year, not a single summer day.

Why we absorb it

A shade study that finds a problem saves an owner a system that underperforms for twenty years. A study skipped to win a quote transfers that cost to them.

Roughly one in six studies changes the layout materially. One in twenty tells us the roof is the wrong roof, and we say so.
