Northline Cold Storage

Build notes

A roof that runs on refrigeration load

A refrigerated warehouse draws hardest in the hours the array produces most, which made this the simplest economic case we have priced in years. The build was the hard part.

Dock traffic never stopped. Roof access was limited to one bay at a time and every lift was scheduled against the shipping calendar rather than ours.

What was installed

  • 1,224 modules at 555 W, ballasted on a warranted membrane roof
  • Three 250 kW string inverters with export limiting
  • Load monitoring tied to refrigeration plant metering
  • Full-Service plan with a 25-year production warranty

Every lift was scheduled against the shipping calendar rather than ours.

The array now covers 41% of annual site consumption and the whole of the summer refrigeration peak.
